Upgrade your iTunes library

If you open the Apple Podcasts app or Apple Books app first, you won't see any of your media until you open the Apple Music app or Apple TV app.

Here are some things to know

• The Apple Music app and Apple TV app read the contents of your iTunes library — so don't delete your iTunes library.
• If you open the Apple Music app and don't see all of your album artwork, leave the Apple Music app open so your album artwork can finish downloading.

One other thing Category of media I forgot is audiobooks. Unlike the others there is no discrete directory for audio books you have to look and find theme by title or artist (depending on how they’re listed and drag them over manually to books.

One other thing I didn’t know is that the files aren’t migrated, they’re copied, so my iTunes Library of nearly a terabyte was copied in their new locations. So after triple checking to make sure your media is in their new apps, it will probably make sense to delete your iTunes Library if it’s as large as mine. A huge oversight on Apple’s part.
